Jax

Jax, Annie Mengelt, Toby Waldrop
Do you remember the day you came home with us from the shelter?
You were so excited. Your tail wagging so fast, it never stopped.
It was around Thanksgiving. They had named you Turkey. Not a very fitting name for a Lab mix. However, it may have helped with your adoption.

The staff shed a tear when you walked out the front door. They cared for you so much because you were so full of love.
They even sent you a coat to wear. They were afraid you would get cold because you had no hair.
Your ribs showing and being underweight did not slow you down.

You jumped into the car, pressing your nose as far forward as you could.
Not knowing where you were going, accepting what was ahead. Fully trusting your future to us.

It will soon be my time to go Jax. I hope I can go with as much excitement, love, and trust as you had.
Not knowing exactly where I’m going but only knowing it’s going to be good.
Giving my total trust to my Creator.

My sight is dim now. I can feel your cold nose pressing into my hand. I feel a teardrop from your eye. Jax don’t cry.
Play with the grandkids and kiss them goodbye for me.
When you miss me, look to the sky.
Know that I did not die.
I’m just waiting.
