Daddy was a coal miner nearly every day of his life He couldn't miss work that would cause much strife We bought all our stuff at the company store We had to cause we were so drop-dead poor Prices were high, but the credit was good It was close to our neighborhood Never getting ahead, just scratching from day to day The loving company credit never went away Looking back, I didn't know I was poor My clothes looked like what the other kids wore We went to church on Sunday and always praised God I guess that's what kept us above the grassy, green sod Mamma never showed any worries A smile on her face I now realize that came from God’s Amazing Grace No matter what kind of shape we find ourselves in God sent His Son so we may always have peace within December 2, 2022 Mark Waldrop
Do you hate going to a class reunion as much as I do? Maybe it's because I don't look like I Used to. I've lost contact with most of my classmates. The Old Telephone is something to remember. On the old party line, I heard why young couples were getting married in September. Learned many things about Preacher Brown, besides being the Pastor of the largest church in town. Aunt Lizzie wasn't my real aunt at all. Not enough time here, to climb that wall.
