Daily Devotional: Our Father Knows Best
By Mark Waldrop

Scripture:
Luke 10:20 (NIV)
However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.

Reflection:
In this passage, Jesus is speaking to the seventy-two disciples who had just returned from a mission where they experienced incredible spiritual victories. They were filled with joy over the authority they had been given, seeing even demons submit to them. But Jesus, in His wisdom, redirected their focus from the temporary victories they experienced on earth to the eternal reality of their salvation.

We often find ourselves excited by the successes and victories we experience in our daily lives. Whether it’s overcoming a challenge, achieving a goal, or witnessing something miraculous, these moments can fill us with joy and a sense of accomplishment. But Jesus reminds us that our true and lasting joy should be rooted in something far greater—the assurance of our salvation and the promise of eternal life.

The knowledge that our names are written in heaven is the ultimate source of joy for every believer. It surpasses any earthly success or spiritual victory because it speaks to our eternal relationship with God. Our salvation is not based on our accomplishments, power, or authority but on God’s grace and love for us.

Let this truth anchor your heart today. While it is good to celebrate the victories God grants us in this life, let your deepest joy and confidence come from knowing that you belong to Him, and your eternity is secure in His hands.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the incredible gift of salvation and the assurance that our names are written in heaven. Help us to keep our focus on this eternal truth, finding our greatest joy in our relationship with You. May we never lose sight of the amazing grace that has saved us, and may our hearts always be filled with gratitude for the hope of eternal life. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Thought for the Day:
True joy is found not in earthly victories, but in the assurance of our salvation and our eternal home in heaven.

Scripture
1 John 5:14-15 (NIV)
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.”

Reflection:
How comforting it is to know that our Heavenly Father not only listens to our prayers but also responds in ways that are aligned with His perfect will. These verses remind us of the confidence we can have when approaching God. When we bring our requests before Him, we can trust that He hears every word, every plea, and every desire of our hearts.

However, the key lies in the alignment of our will with His. We often have our own ideas of how our prayers should be answered, but God, in His infinite wisdom, knows what is truly best for us. It’s not always easy to understand why some prayers seem unanswered or why the answer comes in a different form than we expected. But we can rest in the assurance that God’s will is always for our good and His glory.

When we pray according to His will, we are promised that we already have what we have asked of Him. This doesn’t mean that we’ll always receive exactly what we asked for in the way we imagined, but it does mean that God will provide what we truly need, in the way that is best for us.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the assurance that You hear our prayers. Help us to trust in Your perfect will, knowing that You always have our best interests at heart. Teach us to align our desires with Yours and to find peace in Your answers, even when they differ from our own expectations. Give us the confidence to approach You with our needs, and the faith to trust in Your timing and Your plan. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Thought for the Day:
When we trust God’s will, we find peace in His answers. Our Father knows best.

Scripture:
Psalm 94:18-19
When I said, "My foot is slipping," your unfailing love, LORD, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.

Reflection:
Life often feels like a series of challenges, where our footing becomes uncertain, and the path ahead seems unclear. In these moments of vulnerability, we may feel overwhelmed by the weight of our worries and fears. Yet, it's precisely in these times that we are reminded of our Father's deep and unwavering love.

The psalmist speaks of a God who is intimately aware of our struggles, who notices when our foot begins to slip and rushes to our aid with support and care. This is not a distant God, indifferent to our suffering, but a loving Father who knows us intimately and is always ready to catch us when we falter.

When anxiety rises within us, threatening to steal our peace, God offers us His consolation. It's a gentle reminder that we are never alone. His comfort is not just a fleeting relief but a profound joy that springs from the assurance of His presence and the knowledge that He is in control.

We may not always understand the reasons behind our struggles, but we can trust that our Father knows best. He sees the bigger picture and guides us with a wisdom that surpasses our understanding. His love is the anchor that holds us steady, even in the stormiest seas.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unfailing love that supports us when we are weak. In moments of anxiety and uncertainty, remind us of Your presence and fill our hearts with the joy that only You can give. Help us to trust in Your wisdom and to rest in the knowledge that You always know what's best for us. Amen.

Application:
Today, take a moment to reflect on any areas of your life where you feel like you are slipping. Bring those concerns to God in prayer, and allow His love and comfort to bring you peace. Trust that He is guiding you, even when the path is unclear. Remember, our Father knows best.

To the Joy it Brings

St. Patrick’s Day, a sea of green,
A lively spirit, rarely seen.
It’s more than parades on city streets,
More than the rhythm of lively beats.

It’s the warmth of a community’s embrace,
A day where everyone finds their place.
It’s laughter and stories, old and new,
Under skies that seem a brighter blue.

It’s in the shamrock, in the ale,
In every tale of hill and dale.
A reminder of Ireland’s enduring call,
A celebration of spring, loved by all.

To me, it's memories, vivid and bright,
Of friendships forged in soft moonlight.
It’s a promise of renewal, of beginning anew,
A day when the world feels small and true.

So here’s to St. Patrick, to the joy he brings,
To the songs in our hearts that forever sing.
For on this day, no matter where we roam,
We remember the feeling of coming home.

Jeremiah 29:11- For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."

Reflection
In life, we often find ourselves questioning the paths we walk. Doubts creep in when things don't go according to our plans, and the future seems uncertain. However, this verse from Jeremiah reminds us that our Father in Heaven sees the bigger picture. He knows the plans He has for us—plans that are designed for our well-being and filled with hope.

God's plans are not always immediately clear to us. There are times when the journey may seem difficult, and we may not understand the twists and turns along the way. But as believers, we are called to trust that God's intentions are always for our good. He is the ultimate architect of our lives, and His blueprint is one of love, purpose, and divine care.

When we surrender our desires and trust in His plan, we allow God to work in ways we could never imagine. Even in the midst of trials, we can hold on to the promise that He is leading us toward a future filled with hope. His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:9).

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the plans You have for my life. Help me to trust in Your wisdom, even when I don't fully understand the path I'm on. Strengthen my faith to believe that You are guiding me towards a future filled with hope and purpose. May I always remember that Your ways are best, and that You are with me every step of the way. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Thought for the Day:
No matter the circumstances, trust that God is in control and has a good plan for your life. His timing is perfect, and His plans are for your ultimate good.

who is Your Hero ?

    Who Is Your Hero?

Who is your hero today, my friend?
Someone you follow, admire, or defend?
A figure of strength you look up to,
A champion brave, bold, and true.

Perhaps it’s someone the world has made—
A hero of stories, a role well played.
Maybe an image from pages or screen,
Like Superman flying where few have been.

But heroes of legend and tales we tell
Are shadows beside the truth that dwells.
For there is One far greater to know—
The God of all Gods who walked below.

Jesus the Man who walked on water,
Who calmed the sea and healed the daughter.
Who touched the blind and made them see,
And spoke with love and authority.

He carried a cross up Calvary’s hill,
Not by force, but by heaven’s will.
They laid Him down in a borrowed grave,
Yet death itself He came to brave.

For on the third day the stone rolled wide,
The risen Savior stepped outside.
No legend told, no tale rehearsed—
But the living Christ who conquered the curse.

So who is your hero when all is said?
One made of ink, or the One who bled?
For the greatest hero the world has known
Still reigns today upon His throne.

John 11:25 (KJV)
“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”

Daily Devotional: Our Father Knows Best

Scripture:
Matthew 6:6
“But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”

Reflection:

In the busyness of life, it can be challenging to find moments of quiet and solitude. Yet, Jesus reminds us of the importance of withdrawing from the noise of the world to spend time alone with our Heavenly Father. Prayer is not about public display or eloquence; it’s about a personal, intimate connection with God, where we can pour out our hearts in honesty and humility.

When we enter our "room"—whether it’s a physical space or simply a moment of stillness in our hearts—we shut the door to distractions and focus on communing with God. It’s in these private moments that our Father, who sees all that we do in secret, meets us. He knows the depths of our hearts, our desires, our struggles, and our joys. And it’s here, in the quiet, that He offers us His peace, guidance, and the assurance of His presence.

The promise of this scripture is profound: our Father who sees what is done in secret will reward us. These rewards are not necessarily material, but they are the treasures of His kingdom—peace, joy, wisdom, and a deeper relationship with Him. He honors our sincere pursuit of Him with the very things our souls need most.

Application:

Today, make a deliberate choice to set aside time for private prayer. Find a quiet place, whether it’s a room, a corner, or simply a moment of solitude in your day. Shut the door to the distractions that pull at you and focus on being with your Father. Pour out your heart to Him, and trust that He hears you. Know that in these secret moments, you are building a deeper, more personal relationship with God, one that He will bless in ways beyond your understanding.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the gift of prayer, where I can come to You in the quiet and share my heart. Help me to seek You earnestly, not for show, but out of a deep desire to know You more. As I spend time with You in secret, reward me with Your peace, Your guidance, and a closer walk with You. Teach me to trust that You see me and know my needs, and that You are always working for my good. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
