Daily Devotional: Our Father Knows Best
By Mark Waldrop

Scripture:
“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
— Matthew 18:20 (NIV)

Reflection:
In life, we often find ourselves overwhelmed by decisions, challenges, and uncertainties. We may question what the future holds or whether we’re making the right choices. In these moments of confusion, it’s easy to feel isolated, as though we are walking alone. Yet, Matthew 18:20 offers a beautiful reminder that we are never truly alone when we come together in Christ’s name. Even in the smallest of gatherings, the presence of God is promised.

The power of this verse is not just in the gathering itself, but in the intention behind it—when we seek God’s wisdom, guidance, and peace with others who share our faith, we can rest assured that He is in our midst. It is a reminder that our Father always knows what’s best for us. We don’t have to have all the answers, because when we gather in faith, we’re inviting the One who does. He will guide, comfort, and provide exactly what we need.

The Lord encourages us to draw near to Him, and one of the ways we do that is through fellowship with fellow believers. Whether it’s in a large congregation, a small prayer group, or even just with one other person, God’s presence is there. We don’t have to walk this journey alone—God places others in our lives for mutual encouragement and support, knowing that together, we are stronger.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your promise to be with us whenever we gather in Your name. Help us to remember that in times of uncertainty or struggle, we are not alone. Lead us to seek the fellowship of others who also trust in You, so that together we can experience Your presence and discern Your perfect will. May we always remember that You know what’s best for us, and we trust in Your guidance every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thought for the Day:
When we gather in Christ’s name, His wisdom and presence are always with us. Trust that our Father knows best, and seek His will together.

Scripture:
“He said to them: ‘It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.’
— Acts 1:7

Reflection:
As humans, we crave certainty. We often want to know what the future holds—when our prayers will be answered, when relief will come, or when our hopes will be fulfilled. But Jesus reminds us in Acts 1:7 that there are things only God knows. The “times and dates” of God’s plans are not ours to control or even understand fully.

This can be challenging, especially when we are waiting for answers or clarity. Yet, trusting in God’s timing is an act of faith. When we acknowledge that the Father holds all authority, we can rest in the assurance that He is working things out for our good, even when we can’t see it.

Our job is not to figure out when or how everything will unfold, but to trust and obey. God’s timing is always perfect. Though we may not know all the details, we can trust that our Father knows best, and He is guiding our lives according to His divine wisdom and love.

Prayer:
Father, help me to trust in Your perfect timing. Even when I don’t know when or how things will happen, I choose to rest in him the knowledge that You are in control. Teach me to wait patiently and faithfully, knowing that Your plans are always good. Amen.

Thought for the Day:
God’s timing may not align with ours, but His plans are always worth the wait. Trust Him with the unknown.

A Prayer for Texas

      A Prayer for Texas

O Lord, we lift our hearts today,
For Texas families lost in dismay.
Some seek the ones they cannot find
Their faces etched within their mind.

Hold every heart that waits and weeps,
While hope still stirs in shadows deep.
Guide every search, each rescue call,
And catch the tears that gently fall.

For those who mourn, whose hearts now break,
Wrap them in peace that none can fake.
Let comfort rise through sorrow’s storm,
And love, not loss, become the norm.

We thank You for the brave and strong,
The first responders who rush along
Through flood or flame, through fear and night,
They move with mercy, fueled by light.

So hear our prayer, both loud and still,
And give this weary land Your will.
Let healing come, let hope restore
And bring the missing safely to the door.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
— Psalm 34:18 (NIV)

Amen. 🙏

Scripture:
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
— Romans 15:13

Reflection:
In life, we often face moments of uncertainty, frustration, and confusion. We make plans, set goals, and sometimes things don’t unfold the way we envisioned. During these moments, it’s easy to doubt and wonder why things aren’t going as we hoped.

But our Father knows best. He sees the bigger picture, guiding us with wisdom beyond our understanding. Like a parent caring for a child, He sometimes allows us to face challenges, not to harm us, but to shape us, grow us, and bring us closer to Him. As we learn to trust Him, He fills us with joy and peace, even in difficult times.

Romans 15:13 reminds us that when we trust in God, we are not left empty. Instead, He fills us with hope that overflows. This hope isn’t dependent on circumstances but is powered by the Holy Spirit living in us. Trusting in God means surrendering our plans and believing that His ways are higher, filled with purpose and love.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, help me to trust in Your wisdom and plan for my life. Fill me with joy and peace as I place my hope in You. May the Holy Spirit strengthen me to overflow with hope, knowing You are always in control. Amen.

Thought for the Day:
Trust in God’s timing, for His plans are greater than our own.

John 18:36 – “Jesus said, ‘My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.’”

Jesus’ words in John 18:36 remind us of a powerful truth: God’s ways are different from the ways of the world. When Jesus faced arrest, He didn’t call for a physical fight or an earthly defense. Instead, He pointed to a higher reality—His kingdom was not of this world. His mission and purpose went far beyond the temporary struggles of earthly life.

Our Father knows best. He knows that we are often tempted to get caught up in the battles and challenges of this world, to fight for our own control or comfort. Yet, Jesus teaches us that His kingdom, and our ultimate hope, is not rooted in worldly power or possessions. It’s in something far greater—a kingdom of peace, love, and eternal life.

Today, consider where your focus lies. Are you striving for temporary victories, or are you seeking first God’s eternal kingdom? Trust that He knows what’s best for you, even when things don’t go according to your plans. Jesus’ calm assurance in the face of trial shows us that God is in control, and His kingdom will prevail.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for reminding me that Your kingdom is eternal and not of this world. Help me to trust in Your wisdom and plan, even when life feels uncertain. Give me the faith to seek Your kingdom first, knowing that You know what’s best for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Romans 2:21-23 – “You, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal? You who say that people should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law?”

Today’s passage offers a powerful reminder to live with integrity, ensuring that our actions match the words we speak. It calls us to examine our hearts and lives, challenging us not to fall into the trap of hypocrisy. It’s easy to teach others what is right, but the real test is whether we apply that same standard to ourselves. Do we practice what we preach?

The message here isn’t just about avoiding outward sin; it’s about aligning every part of our lives with the truth of God’s Word. Our Father knows best, and He desires that we live in honesty and humility, recognizing our own need for grace as much as we teach it to others.

As believers, we are called to be examples of Christ’s love and holiness. When we act inconsistently, we not only harm our witness but also dishonor God. Today’s devotional is a call to live authentically, to seek God’s guidance in correcting our own faults, and to let our lives reflect His righteousness.

Take a moment today to reflect on areas of your life where your actions may not fully align with the teachings you uphold. Remember, God is not only a loving Father but also a gracious teacher who helps us grow when we seek His wisdom and correction.

Prayer:
Lord, help me to live with integrity, practicing what I preach. Show me the areas where I fall short, and guide me to live in a way that honors You. Thank You for Your grace and patience as I strive to follow Your truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Psalm 37:4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart

We often think of our desires as things we want or long for—success, happiness, love, or peace. Yet, God invites us into a deeper relationship where our desires align with His perfect will. In today’s verse, the psalmist reminds us that when we take delight in the Lord—when we find joy, satisfaction, and fulfillment in Him above all else—something transformative happens: He shapes the desires of our hearts.

Delighting in the Lord means seeking Him first, loving His presence, and trusting in His goodness. As we grow closer to God, our hearts begin to desire the things He desires for us. Instead of chasing fleeting wants or superficial goals, we long for things that have eternal value—peace, love, purpose, and a life that reflects His grace.

Our Father knows best. He understands our deepest needs and the path we should walk. When we surrender to Him and find joy in His ways, He fulfills our heart’s desires in ways we couldn’t have imagined.

Today, focus on delighting in God. Spend time in His presence, trust in His wisdom, and watch as He aligns your desires with His perfect plan.

Prayer:
Lord, I take delight in You today. Help me to find joy in Your presence and align my heart with Your will. I trust that You know what’s best for me and will give me the desires of my heart as I seek You first. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Title: Our Father Knows Best
Scripture: “You, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, You are the potter; we are all the work of Your hand.” — Isaiah 64:8

Reflection:
As fireworks light the sky and flags wave proudly on this Independence Day, we pause not only to celebrate the birth of a nation but to remember the One who gives true freedom—our Heavenly Father.

While earthly fathers guide, protect, and provide, even the best among them fall short of the wisdom and love of our Heavenly Father. In seasons of confusion, uncertainty, or frustration with life’s direction, it’s comforting to remember: our Father knows best. He sees what we cannot. He understands what we will one day learn. He’s molding us like clay—gently but firmly—with purpose and design in His every touch.

John the Baptist once questioned from a prison cell what he had once proclaimed by the river’s edge. And yet Jesus, full of grace, declared John the greatest among prophets. Even when we doubt, even when we fail, God’s love does not falter. He continues shaping us—calling us not by our weakness but by His vision for us.

So today, while celebrating liberty, let’s also thank God for the freedom to trust, the grace to grow, and the Father who never leaves us in the fire without shaping us through it.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for the freedom we enjoy and the greater freedom You offer through Your Son. Even when we don’t understand Your ways, help us to trust that You are shaping our lives for Your glory. Mold us, use us, and teach us to rest in the truth that You know best. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Practical Takeaway:
When life feels uncertain or off-course, pause and pray: “Father, I trust You. Shape me as You will.” Let that prayer be your daily declaration of freedom.

Happy Independence Day. Your Father knows best.

Scripture:
Jude 1:24 – “Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy.”

In life, we often find ourselves questioning the path we’re on, wondering if we’re making the right choices or walking the right way. The uncertainties and pressures of life can weigh us down, but today’s verse reminds us that we don’t walk this journey alone. Our Father knows best. He is the one who is able to keep us from stumbling, guiding us safely through every challenge and temptation.

God’s care is not just about keeping us from failure. He is also preparing us to stand before Him in His glorious presence, spotless and filled with joy. What a comforting thought! It’s not our strength, but His power at work in us that makes this possible. We may feel weak or uncertain, but God is able to present us faultless, transforming us daily as we trust in His wisdom and guidance.

Today, lean into the assurance that your Heavenly Father knows what’s best for you. He sees beyond your present circumstances and is leading you toward a future filled with joy in His presence. Rest in His ability to keep you from falling and rejoice in the truth that He will complete the good work He has begun in you.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your sustaining power in my life. Help me trust that You know what’s best, even when I can’t see the full picture. Keep me from stumbling, and guide me toward Your glory, filled with joy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Daily Devotional: Our Father Knows Best

Scripture:
Acts 20:24
“However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.”

Life is often filled with uncertainty. We wonder why we face challenges, why certain doors close, or why we must endure seasons of difficulty. Yet, in these moments, we can find peace in knowing that Our Father Knows Best. He sees the entire picture—far beyond our limited perspective—and is guiding us toward His purpose.

Paul understood this deeply. His life was not his own, but a testimony to God’s grace. He pressed forward, not for earthly gain, but to complete the race that Christ had set before him. Paul’s heart was fully surrendered to God’s plan, confident that the Lord knew what was best, even when the path was hard.

Like Paul, we are called to trust God’s direction in our lives. When we surrender our fears, our dreams, and our uncertainties to Him, we declare that we believe in His perfect wisdom. Our aim should be to finish the race faithfully, trusting that God’s plan for us—whether in times of joy or trial—is ultimately for our good and His glory.

Today, rest in the assurance that your life has a purpose far greater than you can see. Trust that our Father knows best, and He will provide the strength you need to finish the race.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your perfect wisdom and guidance. Help me to trust in Your plan, even when I don’t fully understand it. Give me the strength to run the race You’ve set before me, and let my life be a testimony of Your grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
