The Guiding Light

I met a man. He said he didn’t want to talk about God.
I guess he doesn’t want to talk about other men and the path they have trod.

Abraham Lincoln carried a prayer book in his vest pocket
Martin Luther King constantly referred to God on his docket.

No man is perfect. That’s not what Christianity is all about.
When I got a glimpse of Jesus, it all began with a shout.

My ship has been on a dark ocean at night.
I found peace and contentment spotting the guiding light

It was dark and cold out there.
Having hope for the shore kept me from despair

Now I share my light with others to guide them safely ashore
There is no better feeling than the warmth of that far off shore
