Daily Devotional:
Our Father Knows Best
By Mark Waldrop

Scripture Reading: Joshua 24:15 (NIV)

"But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."

Reflection:

In this verse, Joshua addresses the Israelites, challenging them to make a decisive choice about whom they will serve. Joshua's declaration, "But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD," underscores his unwavering commitment to God. This choice reflects a deep trust in God's wisdom and guidance.

Joshua's statement is a powerful reminder that our devotion to God should be clear and resolute. In a world filled with distractions and competing priorities, we are called to affirm our commitment to serving the Lord, trusting that He knows what is best for us.

Application:

1. Make a Conscious Choice: Each day, we face choices about whom or what we will serve. Reflect on your priorities and ensure that your commitment to God is at the forefront of your decisions.

2. Lead by Example: Just as Joshua declared his household's dedication to the Lord, strive to be a beacon of faith within your family and community. Let your actions reflect your commitment to serving God.

3. Trust in God’s Wisdom: When faced with decisions, big or small, seek God's guidance. Trust that His plans are greater than our understanding and that His ways are perfect.

4. Stand Firm in Faith: In times of doubt or when challenged by external influences, stand firm in your faith. Remember Joshua's bold declaration and let it inspire you to remain steadfast in your service to God.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unwavering love and guidance. Help me to choose each day to serve You wholeheartedly. Strengthen my resolve to lead by example and to trust in Your perfect wisdom. When faced with challenges or distractions, remind me that You know what is best for me and my household. May my commitment to You be evident in all I do. In Jesus' name, Amen.

May you find strength and clarity today in knowing that our Father knows best. As you face the day's choices, let your commitment to serving the Lord guide you, trusting in His wisdom and love.
