Daily Devotional: Our Father Knows Best
By Mark Waldrop

Scripture Reading: Matthew 25:39-40 (NIV)

"When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?" The King will reply, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."

Reflection:

In this passage, Jesus emphasizes the importance of serving others, especially those who are in need. The actions of kindness, compassion, and service towards "the least of these" are seen as acts of service to Christ Himself. This teaching underscores the value and dignity of every person and reminds us that our Father knows best when He calls us to love and serve others.

When we help those who are sick, imprisoned, or in any form of distress, we are fulfilling God's command to love our neighbors as ourselves. These acts of love and service are not only beneficial to those we help but are also a form of worship and obedience to God. Our Father knows that in serving others, we find purpose, fulfillment, and a deeper connection with Him.

Application:

1. Look for Opportunities to Serve: Be mindful of those around you who may be in need of help, whether they are sick, lonely, or facing difficult circumstances. Small acts of kindness can make a significant impact.

2. See Christ in Others: Remember that when you serve others, you are serving Christ. This perspective can transform mundane tasks into meaningful acts of worship and love.

3. Practice Compassion: Cultivate a compassionate heart by putting yourself in others' shoes. Empathy can lead to genuine acts of kindness and support for those who are struggling.

4. Trust in God’s Plan: Trust that God knows best and that serving others is part of His perfect plan for your life. Through these acts of service, you are aligning yourself with His will and experiencing His love in action.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding me of the importance of serving others. Help me to see Christ in every person I meet and to treat them with the love and compassion that You have shown me. Guide me to opportunities where I can make a difference in the lives of those who are in need. Strengthen my heart to serve willingly and joyfully, knowing that in doing so, I am serving You. May my actions reflect Your love and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus' name, Amen.

May you be inspired today to seek out opportunities to serve and to trust that our Father knows best. Let your acts of kindness and compassion be a testament to His love and faithfulness, bringing hope and comfort to those around you.
