"Our Father Knows Best"
By Mark Waldrop

Scripture
Luke 16:22
The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried.

Reflection
The parable of the rich man and Lazarus provides a profound perspective on earthly life and eternal destiny. In this story, Lazarus, a poor man who suffered greatly in life, is carried by angels to Abraham’s side upon his death. The rich man, who lived in luxury but ignored the needs of others, finds himself in torment after death. This narrative teaches us that God sees beyond our earthly status and knows best how to reward those who are faithful and compassionate.

God’s justice and mercy are not always evident in our earthly circumstances. Lazarus’ life was marked by suffering, but his faith and humility led him to a place of comfort after death. The rich man’s wealth could not secure his eternal well-being because he neglected the call to love and care for those in need. Our Father knows best how to administer true justice, offering eternal rewards that transcend our temporal experiences.

Application
Trust in God’s Justice: Understand that earthly suffering does not go unnoticed by God. He is just and merciful, and He rewards those who remain faithful despite their circumstances.

Live Compassionately: Use your resources, time, and abilities to help those in need. Recognize that how you treat others reflects your faith and trust in God’s justice.

Focus on Eternal Values: Prioritize spiritual growth and acts of kindness over material wealth and comfort. Keep in mind that God values our hearts and actions more than our earthly status.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your perfect justice and mercy. Help me to trust in Your wisdom and to live a life that reflects Your love and compassion. Teach me to see beyond earthly status and to value the things that are eternal. Give me a heart that is sensitive to the needs of others and a spirit that is willing to serve. Thank You for knowing what is best for me and for guiding me toward a life that honors You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Thought for the Day
Our Father knows best how to administer true justice. Trust in His eternal wisdom and live a life of faith, compassion, and service, knowing that He sees and rewards our faithfulness.

Closing
As you go through your day, remember that God’s justice and mercy are perfect. Trust in His wisdom, live compassionately, and focus on the values that matter eternally. Our Father truly knows best.
