Daily Devotional: Our Father Knows Best
By Mark Waldrop
Scripture:
John 6:35
"Jesus said to them, 'I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.'"
Reflection:
In our daily lives, we often find ourselves searching for fulfillment in many places—our work, relationships, hobbies, or material possessions. Yet, despite our best efforts, these things can only satisfy us temporarily. Deep within each of us is a longing that nothing in this world can truly satisfy.
In John 6:35, Jesus presents Himself as the ultimate answer to this longing. He declares, "I am the bread of life," pointing to the fact that He alone can provide the spiritual nourishment we need. Just as bread sustains our physical bodies, Jesus sustains our souls. When we come to Him, our deepest hunger is satisfied, and when we believe in Him, our spiritual thirst is quenched.
This promise is not just for a moment, but for eternity. Jesus offers us a relationship with Him that continually fulfills us, no matter what circumstances we face. In Him, we find a source of life that never runs dry—a constant supply of grace, peace, and love that keeps us grounded and secure.
Today, reflect on the ways you might be seeking satisfaction in things other than Christ. Remember that our Father knows best, and He has provided for our deepest needs through His Son, Jesus. Come to Him today, trusting that He will meet your every need and fill your life with His sustaining presence.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, to be the bread of life for us. I acknowledge that I often seek fulfillment in things that cannot truly satisfy. Help me to turn to Jesus, to come to Him daily for the nourishment my soul needs. Thank You for the promise that in Him, I will never hunger or thirst again. May I always seek to find my satisfaction in You alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Reflection Question:
What are you turning to for fulfillment that only Jesus can provide? Spend time in prayer today, asking God to help you find your satisfaction in Christ alone.
