Daily Devotional: Our Father Knows Best
By Mark Waldrop
Scripture
1 John 5:14-15 (NIV)
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.”
Reflection:
How comforting it is to know that our Heavenly Father not only listens to our prayers but also responds in ways that are aligned with His perfect will. These verses remind us of the confidence we can have when approaching God. When we bring our requests before Him, we can trust that He hears every word, every plea, and every desire of our hearts.
However, the key lies in the alignment of our will with His. We often have our own ideas of how our prayers should be answered, but God, in His infinite wisdom, knows what is truly best for us. It’s not always easy to understand why some prayers seem unanswered or why the answer comes in a different form than we expected. But we can rest in the assurance that God’s will is always for our good and His glory.
When we pray according to His will, we are promised that we already have what we have asked of Him. This doesn’t mean that we’ll always receive exactly what we asked for in the way we imagined, but it does mean that God will provide what we truly need, in the way that is best for us.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the assurance that You hear our prayers. Help us to trust in Your perfect will, knowing that You always have our best interests at heart. Teach us to align our desires with Yours and to find peace in Your answers, even when they differ from our own expectations. Give us the confidence to approach You with our needs, and the faith to trust in Your timing and Your plan. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Thought for the Day:
When we trust God’s will, we find peace in His answers. Our Father knows best.
