Daily Devotional: Our Father Knows Best
By Mark Waldrop

Scripture:
Colossians 3:12 (NIV)
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.”

Reflection:
As believers, we are called to reflect the character of Christ in all that we do. Colossians 3:12 reminds us that we are God’s chosen people, set apart by His love and grace. Because of this, we are to “clothe” ourselves with qualities that mirror His heart: compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Just as we put on clothes each day, we must intentionally choose to wear these virtues as we interact with others.

This call to clothe ourselves with these Christlike qualities is more than just an outward display. It is about allowing God’s love to transform us from the inside out, so that our actions and attitudes reflect His grace. Compassion enables us to see and care for others’ needs; kindness brings warmth and goodness into our relationships; humility reminds us of our place before God, and gentleness and patience help us navigate life with peace and self-control.

Our Father knows best, and He knows that these virtues are essential for a life that honors Him and serves others. By clothing ourselves in this way, we align our lives with His will and bring His love to those around us.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for choosing me as Your beloved child. Help me to daily clothe myself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. May my actions and words reflect Your love to those I encounter. Transform me from the inside out so that I live a life that brings glory to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Application:

1. Clothe Yourself Daily: As you start each day, take a moment to mentally and spiritually “put on” the qualities
