Daily Devotional: Our Father Knows Best
By Mark Waldrop
Scripture:
1 Peter 5:6 - “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you.”
Reflection:
Life often presents moments when we feel anxious or uncertain about the future. We may want things to happen immediately or seek to control the outcome of our circumstances. But in 1 Peter 5:6, God calls us to humble ourselves under His mighty hand, trusting in His perfect timing.
Humility in this context doesn’t mean thinking less of ourselves but thinking rightly of God. It is a posture of surrender, acknowledging that His wisdom and plan far exceed our own understanding. It’s a reminder that we are not the architects of our destiny—God is. His timing is flawless, and His plans for us are good, even when we cannot see the full picture.
As we submit to God’s will, He promises that at the proper time, He will exalt us. This exaltation may not always be in ways the world values, but it will be in ways that bring us closer to His heart, glorify His name, and fulfill His purposes.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to humble myself before You. Teach me to trust in Your timing, even when I don’t understand. I submit my life to Your perfect plan, knowing that Your ways are higher than mine. Strengthen my faith as I wait for the proper time of Your exaltation in my life. Amen.
Takeaway:
Trust in God’s timing. His plan is always for our best, and He will lift us up when the time is right.
