Daily Devotional: Our Father Knows Best
Mark Waldrop
Scripture:
John 14:12
“Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.”
Reflection:
In this passage, Jesus assures us that those who believe in Him will not only carry on His work but will accomplish even greater things. This can be overwhelming to consider—how could we possibly do greater things than Christ? Yet, this promise is not a measure of human strength but of divine empowerment. Jesus went to the Father, leaving us the Holy Spirit to guide, equip, and sustain us.
When we surrender to God’s will, He can use our lives in ways we never imagined. His knowledge of what is best for us far exceeds our own understanding. We often seek control or worry about outcomes, but our Father knows the path we should take, and He leads us in love. Trust in His plans, and He will work through you to achieve His purpose. Even in small acts of kindness, God can do great things.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for knowing what is best for me. Help me to trust in Your guidance and believe in the power You have placed within me. May I follow in Christ’s footsteps, knowing that through Your strength, I can do all that You have called me to do. Amen.
Action Step:
Reflect on an area of your life where you have been hesitant to trust God. Take a step of faith today, knowing that He is leading you and will enable you to do great things through His Spirit.
