Oh, That We Would Wait

Oh, That We Would Wait

Oh, that we would wait, with hearts awake,
For Jesus Christ to come
The way we stand at airport gates,
Eyes fixed, expectant, drawn.

We watch each face come walking through,
Hope rising with each stride;
Imagine if our souls looked up
For Christ with such delight inside.

How eagerly we scan the crowd
For someone that we love
Yet greater still the day He comes
Descending from above.

Oh, that we would wait like this,
In joy that can’t be weighed
Anticipating glory’s gate
Where tears will all be laid.

May every heartbeat, every breath,
Hold longing pure and true
To meet the One who died for us,
And makes all things brand new.

Jhn 14:3  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

For God’s Glory and Honor
