Across the Bridge

Where can I go to get a good night's sleep? I'm tired and have no money, you see
Is there a place where someone cares and they will take care of me

I've heard there is such a place. I do not know where to look
Someone told me it is spoken of in the Good Book

Please, Please help me. I am fading away. I don't think I can last another day

I can see it now; it's just across the bridge
Luscious green pasture with cool running water just over the ridge

Thank you, my friend, for caring for me
Such Love, I never thought I would see

Shadows

Do shadows of old continue to haunt me
Do they cloud my vision so that I can’t see

Shadows disappear
When light appears

The shadows of my soul have all gone away
The very day Jesus came in to stay

No sadness, just joy for me
From the day God set me free

Thank you, God, for caring for me
before time began
Thank You for sending your Son Jesus to save Man

Love, I can't understand or deserve
Only through Jesus learning to serve

Eye can't see, nor tongue can tell
Of the love of the water from your deep well

I bow my head every day; thanking you for the many blessings You send my way

The Resting Place

Do I have a resting place?
A quiet place that will bring me grace
whether physical or spiritual rest.
I need both to be truly blest.

By putting my trust in The Will of God
Attaining peace before I rest under the sod

No matter where I go or where I stay
Peaceful rest will follow me all the way

Thank You, God. Thank You, God, for your promise of rest every day

It’s how you look at things

It's how you look at life that changes many things
Dependent upon the tune of your heartstrings

We can look for the good or settle for the bad
One will make you glad the other will make you sad

If your soul is calm, your mind will be too
Calming your soul is left up to you

The Book of Truth says by trusting in Jesus; He will bring Peace and Love
That is the answer that would fit like a glove

More for Show than Go

Closeup portrait of proud man pointing finger himself. Business people concept, richly and success. Indoor, studio shot on light blue background
Some people like to show no matter where they go
Don't make sense to me that dressing up for class will help you know

Having to do with ego, I'm pretty sure
For sticking out your chest, there is no cure

Humility seems to be the name of the game
Always putting others first, giving them the fame

It seems like that's what the Good Book says
Serving others describes what Love is

There will always be people who like to show no matter what
It's my responsibility not to strut

A Friend

I have a Friend in Heaven. He means more than any Father to me
He cares for my soul continually

He goes with me every day, and He’s present every night, no matter where I stay

His Love is so Great I can’t comprehend
I can only bow down to my heavenly Friend

He’s there in times of trouble
He’s there when I’m Happy all the day

He will never forsake or leave me
Always willing to stay

He’s the Fragrance in the valley, the Light from the Evening Star
The Joy in the morning with which my burdens to share

His Loving feeling I cannot explain
I’m so thankful He chooses to remain

It’s only through His Son Jesus who gave His Life on the Cross
That I am now the devil's loss

I bow my head and pray every day
Thank you, God, for being in your family today

 The last word

The last word I heard was an incredible love
Only remembering a sparkling white dove

One minute everything was cheerful and fine
The next twisted metal and the smell of slaughtered swine

Only recalling the star above my head
The faint smell of roses in the well-manicured flower bed

Absence of pain, the incredible peace of strolling through the rain

Shadows began to shift. The light grew dim.
No longer seeing or hearing Him

The sweet aroma was replaced with alcohol and iodine
Peace leaving and chills traveling up my spine

Months later, knowing what I know for sure
Receiving a little glimpse of Heaven for which there is no cure

Having only one aim in my life, telling others there is Hope without strife

Understanding Scripture unveils an entirely new meaning
After capturing a glimpse of the Holy beginning

Don't wait to clean your sinful life up
Till your spirit is leaving to drink of the cup

Thank You, God. Thank You, God, for sparing me from a seat in hell
Offering a chance to walk with Your Son Jesus, with whom my soul shall dwell
