If my tears paved the trail to heaven
And God’s Love pointed the way

God has been so good to me. His blessings never end. 
As crowded as my mornings are, I ask God where can I be a friend.

He often surprises me with the answer I hear.
Following His directions, I'm happy with no fear.

A life lived for the Lord is never dull.
Serving in His will, my heart is always full.

The next time you don't know what to do, bow your head and listen. He will guide you.

I know more now than I knew then
I hope that speaks for the majority of men

Not knowing, in the beginning, makes it difficult at times 
I would walk right on by the church chimes

Having little feeling for others and caring only for self
Everything was always much bigger on my shelf

Then something strange happened one day. I'm not even sure what to say

Some people say I was saved. Some people say I was baptized in the spirit
I know I did hear it

What did I hear, you might ask 
The still-small voice of Jesus Christ

Knowing this now makes me Happy within
I wish I had found Him a way back when

He spoke to me today. I was not listening, I must say
Sorry to say this happened day after day

To get my attention, it took more than a whisper
Finding my true love, I gently kissed her

My heart came alive on that beautiful day
From that day on, I could hear every word he would say

For most of my life, I could not hear anything at all 
It was like I was running into a thick brick wall

I had no real clue where to turn
I had a haunting feeling I might burn

Then one day, a friend saw my plight
He asked if he could offer a bit of advice

Responding, sure, why not? I have nothing to lose
It might save me at the end from the hangman's noose

He introduced me to his Friend Jesus that day
I could not believe it was such a simple thing to say

From then on, I could hear The Master say
Follow Me today. I will show you the way

From the cradle to the grave
I will continue to be very brave 

He walks with me every day 
Never drifting very far away

In good times and bad 
He keeps me from being sad

At the top of the mountain or in the valley 
His Loving Grace has kept me out of many an alley

Watching from my birth to the day I die
I'm waiting anxiously with Him to fly

I was not born this way

I was not born this way. Slumming on the street with no pay
The bottom has dropped out. No, where to go? Not knowing if I will see you the next day 

Selling my body and anything else I've got to get a dime for some pot

I have nowhere to turn but to God now 
He made me. Maybe He can get me out of this somehow

Well, check back in a few days. I pray he doesn't delay 

If you see a person like me
don't walk on by
Please stop and pray with me before I die

If God knows everything, why does he want to hear from me
He wants to listen to my confessions of Love, don't you see

When God made me, he set me free
To test my love to see where I would be
If I did not Love Him, I would not return
A simple test for what my tender heart yearns

Wiser than me in every way 
I desire to walk with Him every day
