A Messinger

A Messinger told me one day don't listen to anyone else
I'm the only one that can show you how to tighten my belt

I don't sell anything. I'm not trying to make money.
There may be a small fee to join my circle of friends, honey.

I have the answer. All may contact me.
The answer is I have many degrees.

I asked if this was so good and would help me,
why is one man in charge of the secrets that would set me free?

Well, I think I'll stick to my old tale
Follow no man. He may fail.
Only follow Jesus. He is familiar with the trail.

Uncle Jim

Uncle Jim has always been my best friend.
He stayed with me through my trials to the end.

What ever I was going through, I could depend on Uncle Jim.
Then one-day things looked so gravely dim.

Poor Old Uncle Jim died that lonely day .
Now I have a better friend to help me along the way.

I found him by accident when I cried. I can't live this way.
Hearing my cry, He came into my heart that day.

Never alone, never alone. God's son Jesus came in to stay.
Now bowing my head and thanking him when I pray.

RIP, Uncle Jim Beam

Go with the flow

Going with the flow seems to be the norm
Being much more comfortable to conform

Salmon would never spawn if they didn't fight their way upstream
The same for me. Without some effort I will never reach my dream

Going with the flow, less padding, we have to do
Traveling afar, you may find it's not good for you

The talk around the gym, no pain, no gain
Traveling without God, you will most likely go insane

Life ain’t no Sunday School

It's true life ain't no Sunday School
However, Sunday School is life.
Living longer and growing older, I find attending Sunday School brings less strife.

Many people want to be in control.
Not having anything to do with God as a whole.

Not realizing being made in God’s image
Living their whole life with a grimace

Once they discover who they are and make peace with their maker
They will not dread their appointment with the Undertaker.

The Guiding Light

I met a man. He said he didn’t want to talk about God.
I guess he doesn’t want to talk about other men and the path they have trod.

Abraham Lincoln carried a prayer book in his vest pocket
Martin Luther King constantly referred to God on his docket.

No man is perfect. That’s not what Christianity is all about.
When I got a glimpse of Jesus, it all began with a shout.

My ship has been on a dark ocean at night.
I found peace and contentment spotting the guiding light

It was dark and cold out there.
Having hope for the shore kept me from despair

Now I share my light with others to guide them safely ashore
There is no better feeling than the warmth of that far off shore

The Kiss

The kiss has many different feelings
usually a greeting of good or bad
Depending on who gives the kiss
will make you happy or sad

There is a kiss of greeting, a kiss of love
Both welcomed kisses from above

There is the marked kiss, the kiss of death, both absent of love

Depending on how you live your life
Which kiss do you get from your wife

Monitoring

Am I being monitored by Uncle Sam
Or is my internet listening in
All this modern technology makes my aching head spin

As of late, realizeing I'm monitored all the time
Scaring me at first, feeling it might be a crime

Then realizing the one monitoring was the maker of me
Listening to the information learned will surely set me free

I Can’t Imagine

I can't even imagine the beautiful things unseen
Someone’s experience and pictures bring beauty to me

Spiritual things are quite different to find
No pictures, feelings in the heart, not the mind

I can't imagine what words cannot describe
I can only feel the love in my heart where it abides

God is love, the good book says
The overflowing love in my heart is His
