Memories

Life is like a vapor
Coming apart in your hands

People won’t remember what you do or say
They will only remember how you make them feel

That’s why Memories
Seem so very real

As days go by and we grow older
Our memories grow fonder

Only to realize in the very end
They will always be with us in the wild blue yonder

I heard from Jesus Today

I was going along my merry way
Leaving the store and driving away

I saw a man beside the road
He had a sign that read
Please help my family I have no food

I backed up the car and gave him a 20
Only in hopes that would be plenty

As I drove away I heard him say with a smile
God Bless you and your family I pray

I felt love dwell up in my heart
I began to cry and heard Jesus say

Thank you for what you have done for Me
And my Father today

Pimlico Rural Fire Dept. Company 5

Fire Fighter EMTs are a resourceful lot
They show up Johnny on the spot

No waste of time accessing the situation
Their training provides much-needed information

They kneel by your side to ease the pain
They show compassion even in the rain

Their not angels they say
But GOD put them here anyway

Love flows from their hands to you
Just like JESUS would do

So the next time you see them in action
Say a little prayer that GOD may help them
Complete their task with much satisfaction

On The Line Of Time

On the line of time lies,The Cross Of Calvary
Where the victory was won

Good conquered evil
That’s where It was all done

Evil is still in this world But no control over you
If You have accepted Jesus Christ, HE Lives within You

The War is Over
Your Freedom has been Given

The enemy has been Defeated
No more storm raging within

All for the Asking
When You invite Jesus to come In

THE BOOT

Painting by Spike O’Dell W4WGN Brentwood Tennessee
I may look like an old boot
I have many stories that will never be told

My Master died
He wasn’t very old

I’ve danced at weddings
I’ve been a pallbearer at funerals

I’ve seen joy
And I’ve seen sorrow
My Master always put me on tomorrow

It wasn’t I, to decide the fate
Only to make my Master look great

I would like to have gone with him
But that wasn’t meant to be

I now have a new task in life
To be proudly worn by his son
As long as he needs Me

On The Way To Nashville

Painting by Spike O’Dell W4WGN Brentwood Tennessee
I’m just an old Country Boy
With a song in my heart

Traveling on the way to Nashville
Hoping someone will give me a start

No money No food
Just a dream in my head

Oh Lord Oh Lord
Let me make it big
Before I’m dead

I just need a chance
To sing my song

Ever since she left me
I’ve been all wrong

I know there are better days ahead
Cause it can’t get no worse

I feel like it’s around the corner
I’m about to burst

Oh Lord Oh Lord give me a break
That’s all I ask in His Namesake

A Little Old House

Painting by Spike O’Dell W4WGN Brentwood Tennessee
A little house that needs some fixing up
It’s seen better days

Laughter and family
And happier ways

Memories of good times and hard times too
Working the fields from daylight to dawn
Always toiling on

Grandma would cook
Dad would whittle

Kids would play down by the creek
We were happy even though meek

Time passes by
things seem to change

Everyone has moved from that old house
But the memories still remain

That old house
Will never be the same

BAMBI

Painting by Spike O’Dell W4WGN Brentwood Tennessee
I’m a little Deer
My name is Bambi

My mother taught me all I know
To watch for humans where ever I go

I frolic and play deep in the woods
I come out at night to investigate
The garden delight

It’s so nice for these people to feed us
I hope I’m doing what’s right

When I get older I’ll have a family too
And teach them the right thing to do
