Daily Devotional:Our Father Knows Best
By Mark Waldrop

Scripture:
Matthew 6:33-34
"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."

Reflection:
In these verses from the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches us to prioritize our relationship with God above all else. By seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, we are placing our trust in our Father’s perfect wisdom and provision. He knows what we need and promises to provide for us when we put Him first in our lives.

Seeking God’s kingdom means aligning our desires, actions, and thoughts with His will. It involves pursuing a life that reflects His values of love, justice, mercy, and truth. When we focus on God and His righteousness, we cultivate a deeper relationship with Him, and our lives begin to reflect His character and priorities.

Jesus also addresses the common human tendency to worry about the future. He reassures us that our Father knows best and is aware of our needs. By encouraging us not to be anxious about tomorrow, Jesus invites us to live in the present, trusting that God will take care of our future. Worrying about tomorrow distracts us from the opportunities and blessings of today.

Living one day at a time, with our hearts set on God’s kingdom, allows us to experience His peace and provision. It frees us from the burden of anxiety and enables us to focus on what truly matters—our relationship with God and the fulfillment of His purposes in our lives.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your promise to provide for us when we seek Your kingdom and righteousness first. Help us to prioritize our relationship with You above all else and to trust in Your perfect wisdom and provision. Teach us to live one day at a time, free from anxiety about the future, knowing that You hold our tomorrows in Your hands. Amen.

Thought for the Day:
Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and trust that our Father knows best. Live in the present, free from anxiety about tomorrow, and experience the peace and provision that come from placing your trust in Him.

The Voyage of Life

The Voyage of Life

This Voyage of Life has storms and gales,
yet God guides my ship and never fails.
He charts the course through darkest night,
and keeps my bow toward morning light.

My anchor is faith, my compass His Word,
His Spirit the whisper of hope that’s heard.
His breath is the wind that fills up my sails,
and His strength alone stills violent gales.

When storm clouds break and waters calm,
I rest in His harbor, safe and warm.
There He restores what trials have worn,
and repairs my vessel where it’s torn.

With patched-up timbers and sails brand new,
I stand prepared for what He’ll ask me to do.
For every voyage has purpose and call
to trust His hand and surrender all.

So onward I sail with courage today
His love my map, His truth my way.
For with Christ as Captain in peace or strife,
I will weather the seas of this beautiful life.

God is My Captain

Scripture:
Isaiah 55:7
"Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon."

Reflection:
Isaiah 55:7 presents a powerful message of repentance and forgiveness. It calls us to turn away from our sinful ways and thoughts and to return to the Lord. This verse highlights the boundless compassion and abundant pardon that God offers to those who seek Him.

Returning to the Lord requires humility and a genuine desire to change. It means acknowledging our sins and choosing to follow His ways instead. When we do this, we open ourselves to His grace and mercy. Our Father knows best how to heal and transform us, leading us to a life of righteousness and peace.

These verses, known as the Great Commission, are Jesus’ final instructions to His disciples. They emphasize the importance of spreading the Gospel and making disciples of all nations. This mission reflects our Father’s perfect wisdom and His desire for all people to come to know Him.

 Passing The Word

       Passing The Word

Grandpa passing the Word.
Nothing better I must say.
Something that will outlast the day

Grandpa full of wisdom
Grandson soaking it in

Something to be remembered
Through eternity my friend
The grandson will pass it on
The Word will never end.

Isaiah 59:1 is a powerful reminder of God’s unlimited ability to save and His attentive ear to our cries. This verse reassures us that no matter the situation, our Father is both willing and able to help us. His hand is never too short to reach us, and His ear is never too dull to hear our prayers.

A Silent Key

            A Silent Key

A Silent Key is only silent
here upon this earthly land
for though the mic grows quiet now,
their call is still in God’s own hand.

When they cross that Great Divide,
no signal ever fades away;
the clicking carries onward still,
in skies that never end their day.

Their voice is in the whispering wind,
their laughter in the summer rain
their call sign lives in memory’s log,
engraved in love, not marked by pain.

So though we say SK today,
we do not say goodbye
for every faithful operator
still calls out in the by and by.

A Silent Key is only silent
in the time our eyes can see;
but in the realms beyond our reach,
their signal sings eternally.

Scripture:

Psalm 103:1-3

“Of David. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases,”

Reflection:

Psalm 103 is a beautiful hymn of praise and gratitude, reminding us to bless the Lord with all that is within us. David calls upon his soul to remember and celebrate the many benefits and blessings that come from God. This passage encourages us to reflect on God’s goodness and to praise Him wholeheartedly for His loving care and mercy.

Our Father knows that in our busy lives, it’s easy to forget His countless blessings. We often take for granted the everyday miracles and acts of grace that surround us. David’s call to bless the Lord with all our being serves as a reminder to be intentional in our gratitude, acknowledging the profound ways God works in our lives.

One of the greatest benefits mentioned in this psalm is God’s forgiveness. He forgives all our iniquities, cleansing us from sin and restoring our relationship with Him. This forgiveness is a gift of immeasurable worth, a testament to His boundless love and mercy. Remembering this helps us to live in gratitude and humility, knowing that our Father knows best how to heal and restore us.

The psalm also speaks of God’s healing power. He heals all our diseases, offering physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. Trusting in His ability to heal reminds us of His sovereignty and care. Whether we experience immediate healing or a journey through recovery, we can be confident that God is with us, working for our good.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your countless blessings and benefits. Help us to remember and celebrate Your goodness every day. Thank You for forgiving our sins and for Your healing power in our lives. May our souls continually bless Your holy name with gratitude and praise. Strengthen our faith and remind us always that You know what is best for us. Amen.

Thought for the Day:

Take time to bless the Lord and remember His many benefits. Trust in His forgiveness and healing, knowing that our Father knows best and continually works for our good.

UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS

                     250 YEARS

UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS
250 YEARS

Two hundred fifty years have passed
and still the Eagle stands,
its talons wrapped in courage,
its gaze set on distant lands.

From Tun Tavern’s blazing birthplace
to the halls where legends soar,
from Belleau Wood to Fallujah’s streets
Marines remain forever more.

They rise where others falter,
they advance where others break;
when the world cries out for courage,
it is the Marines who undertake.

They’ve carried freedom on their shoulders,
through fire, storm, and sand
with discipline that does not waver,
and honor carved by hand.

They have guarded every ocean,
they have crossed each foreign shore;
where the flag has needed defenders,
the Corps has answered—and more.

The drumbeat still is thunder,
the cadence never fades;
the lineage of warriors echoes
in every Marine Brigade.

No fragility of daylight,
no darkness thick or deep,
can break the vow they swore to keep
nor silence what they speak:

“In every clime and place
we stand.
With steadfast heart
we fight.
For God, for Corps, for Country
we carry freedom’s light.”

So raise the colors high today,
let them snap against the sky;
for the blood that built this legacy
did not fear to bleed or die.

United States Marines
past, present, and still to be
your oath has shaped a nation,
your courage keeps it free.

Semper Fidelis.
Now and forever
the watch is yours to keep.
